6 Traits of Safe People: https://twitter.com/Theholisticpsyc/status/1699822867364688349
- Their words match their actions: in short, they do what they say they will. They're highly predictable and consistent. When they're not, they own it and communicate about it instead of leaving you in the dark.
- They apologize when they genuinely feel they've done something wrong: this is different than chronic apologizing to not upset someone. They apologize from a genuine space to build trust and to repair.
- They don't take themselves too seriously: they're flexible with their self image and able to be lighthearted. This is because they're not stuck in fight and can see the bigger picture.
- They can regulate their emotions: when they're stressed or overwhelmed they take breaks and can calm themselves down. This allows them to *also* take your emotions into account.
- They don't invalidate you: when you share how you feel, what you think, or believe they're curious. They try to understand where you're coming from. They don't deny your reality.
- They're openminded: they can see other people's perspectives. They don't engage in black and white thinking. They're flexible in their mindset and open to different perspectives.
