Leh, the capital of Ladakh, India, has an airport called Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport (IXL). It's located 3.8 kilometers from the city at an altitude of 3,256 meters (10,682 feet) above sea level, making it one of the highest commercial airports in the world. The airport is named after the 19th Kushok Bakula Rinpoche, a Buddhist monk and politician whose Spituk Monastery is nearby.
